青森で話されている言葉は「津軽弁」と呼ばれ、語彙の面でも発音・イントネーションの面でも標準的な日本語とは大きく異なっています。

　現在では、本格的な津軽弁を話す人は少なくなってきていますが、郷土の歴史と風土に根差した方言には、独特の味わいがあります。日常よく使われる津軽弁を覚えれば、青森での生活も一層楽しくなることでしょう。

The language spoken in Aomori is called “Tsugaru-ben” and is quite different from standard Japanese in Vocabulary, pronunciation and intonation.

Nowadays fewer and fewer people speak pure Tsugaru Dialect but it has a distinct appeal since it is a product of the history and cultural climate of the region. Learning some commonly-used Tsugaru-ben words is sure to enhance your Aomori experience.
